Who are you?
We're a group of LGB Liberal Democrat members and supporters committed to campaigning for LGB rights in the party, and for the party in LGB communities.
What do you say to those who claim that in organising as LGB rather than LGBT you're transphobic?
Or course we aren't - we're liberals and therefore as fundamentally committed to trans rights as we are, for example, to women's rights and anti-racism; however, we believe that, as same-sex attraction and gender dysphoria are very different things, same-sex attracted and trans Liberal Democrats should be able to organise separately. Any Liberal Democrat who is same-sex attracted and shares our aims and beliefs is welcome to join us; and that includes many women, ethnic minority people and trans people.
You say that you're committed to trans rights but you're a gender critical group.
There's no contradiction at all here (as many trans people agree). Of course we believe that trans people should be able to live freely in the gender that they identify with; but we also believe that a denial of the clear facts of human biology has caused the party to lose credibility and has serious implications for the hard-won rights of women and LGB people.
